Thinking about my great-grandparents, all 8 of them… I would love to hear their voices. But I never shall. They weren’t famous, or important, or special, so nobody bothered to record them.
But truth is, everyone is important and ordinary people are extraordinary. What I cannot give myself, I can pay forward to other people. I can record voices and stories, so that they are not devoured by time, and lost.
So that’s how Guisborough Arts started its Lifestories project, an activity which is intended to go on forever, rescuing a little fragment of our humanity from the jaws of time.
We are keen to hear stories from and about Guisborough and surroundings – including how you came to be here, if you moved here from somewhere else, or moved on to somehere else.
